Event description:

The 25th edition of the Agriculture Days and the 16th Farmers’ Market took place in Valledolmo, a five-day event dedicated to the excellence of agriculture, agricultural mechanization, animal husbandry, and Sicilian crafts. The event represented an important point of reference for the agricultural sector of the Sicilian hinterland, enhanced by the presence of Senator Luca De Carlo as guest of honor at the opening ceremony.

During the inauguration, the project for the new Agricultural Exhibition Center was presented, a modern facility designed to strengthen Valledolmo’s role as a strategic hub for the Madonie agri-food sector. The event offered a comprehensive program of conferences, tastings, cooking demonstrations, cultural activities, and approximately 300 exhibitors, offering an experience that combined tradition, innovation, and regional development.
Of particular note was the presentation by architect Mariano Genovese, included in the conference dedicated to the revitalization of the territories. In his presentation, “Architecture, Landscape, Community,” Genovese illustrated a design vision deeply rooted in the places and people who inhabit them. His architecture rejects the idea of a “postcard” aesthetic and is instead based on listening, dialogue, and the shared transformation of territories.
In Valledolmo, this vision took shape in the Agricultural Exhibition Center project, conceived as a true ecosystem of relationships between innovation, agriculture, education, and community. A 7,500-square-meter area of shared spaces, designed to last over time and grow alongside the local community, made possible thanks to the collaboration between governments, universities, professionals, and citizens.
The central message of Genovese’s presentation is that designing today means collectively choosing the future we want to build, in the knowledge that, as Pope Francis reminds us, “everything is connected.” Remaining and investing in local communities thus becomes a conscious choice to sow the seeds of the future.
