Event location: Stagnone, Valledolmo (PA)
Event date: October 9 – October 10, 2021
Event description:
The festival dedicated to sensitive territories is an initiative part of the action-research project “The Healing City,” which focuses on smaller Sicilian rural centers and territorial regeneration strategies related to well-being, care, short supply chains, and local markets, enhancing the role of communities and environmental and cultural resources.
During the first day, architect Mariano Genovese offered a critical contribution on the topic of sensitive territories and the role of design as a tool for activating regenerative processes in fragile rural contexts. His speech emphasized the importance of an integrated vision of architecture, landscape, and local communities, in line with the objectives of sustainability and territorial cohesion.
The event provided a shared framework for reflection and proposals, confirming the value of action-research as an operational method capable of guiding future local development policies, also in relation to the opportunities offered by the Green New Deal and European territorial regeneration programs.
