The “Living the Transition” workshop, dedicated to the design of university residences in the Albergheria district, took place from January 16 to 20, 2023, involving second-year students.
Architect Mariano Genovese who, through his speech entitled “FROM THE WHOLE TO THE DETAIL. Construction drawings in architectural construction site management”, contributed to the workshop, contributing to the debate through reflections on professional design and the role of architecture in urban transformation processes, along with art designer Piero De Grossi.
During the week, the results of the teaching and research activities on the topic of university residences were presented to ERSU President Michele D’Amico and Director Ernesto Bruno, launching an action-research process aimed at strengthening the relationship between the university and the city through temporary student residences.
The final discussion between the design workshops, coordinated by instructors Renzo Lecardane, Santo Giunta, and Fabio Guarrera, revealed methodologies and design outcomes, confirming the value of the workshop as a moment of synthesis between education, research, and design practice.
